Ingredients
Method
Soak the Chia Seeds:
- Place 1 tablespoon of chia seeds (or Sabja seeds) in a small bowl with 1/4 cup of water. Let them soak for about 15–20 minutes until they become gelatinous and swell up.
Prep the Watermelon:
- Cut the watermelon into small chunks and remove as many seeds as possible. For a colder drink, you can chill the watermelon chunks in the freezer for 30 minutes before blending.
Blend:
- Add the watermelon chunks and fresh mint leaves into a high-speed blender. Blend on high until the mixture is completely liquid. Note: Do not add water, as the watermelon provides enough natural juice.
Strain (Optional):
- If you prefer a very smooth, clear juice, pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher. If you like the natural fiber, you can skip this step.
Flavor Boost:
- Stir in the fresh lime juice and a pinch of black salt (Kala Namak). The black salt perfectly balances the sweetness of the watermelon and aids digestion.
Assemble the Drink:
- Place the soaked chia seeds at the bottom of two serving glasses. Pour the fresh watermelon juice over the seeds.
Serve:
- Stir well so the seeds are distributed evenly. Add ice cubes if desired and garnish with a fresh sprig of mint. Serve immediately for maximum freshness!
Notes
Sweetness Note: If your watermelon isn't sweet enough, you can add 1 teaspoon of honey or a few drops of stevia. However, for the best weight loss results, try to enjoy the natural sweetness of the fruit!
